Rezumat
Point de Contact was established in 1998 by the French Internet Service Providers Association (AFA) as one of the response, together with data retention and international cooperation, to the issue of illegal content on the Internet. 20 major French ISPs are members of AFA i.e. 6ème Sens/Bouygues Telecom, 9 Telecom, AOL France, Aricia, Cario, Cable&Wireless France, Club-Internet/ T-Online France, Colt France, InterPC, Magic Online, MSN France, NC numéricâble, Noos, Outremer Telecom, citadelle/Cegetel, Tiscali France, UPC France, Wanadoo, Worldcom France, Yahoo! France. In June 2003, AFA members represented 9,391,000 individual accounts, among which 2,053,000 were bitstream access.
AFA has been running the hotline for France with co-funding from the Safer Internet programme since 2000.
